Sin holds us in bondage. It consumes our mindset and affects our circumstances. It leaves us feeling guilty and shameful for what we have done. But, Jesus came and died for our sins. His sacrifice has allowed us to be consumed with grace, forgiveness, and freedom.
God is so good to us. He could remember our sin for a lifetime but chooses to forget. In Jeremiah 31:34 it says, “….for I will forgive their wrongdoing, and their sin I will no longer remember.” Isn’t it beautiful that God chooses to forgive us once we confess our sin and He remembers no more.
Holy Spirit recently gave me this illustration, “Freedom is being released from bondage. The shackles never being placed again. Forgiven and set free because Jesus’ sacrifice bought our freedom. Never to be tried again for the sin we committed that has been given (confessed) to Jesus.”
We don’t need to keep holding ourselves in jail for the sin we have committed. We just get the opportunity to ask for forgiveness and be set FREE. Living this kind of life is hard because it takes time. We have to reprogram our thought process, mindset, and circumstance to view ourselves through the lens of grace.
His grace is enough for us. His death on the cross was enough for us. We have no penance to live. We just get to live life free from the shackles of sin.
This kind of freedom is real. It allows us to live our lives to the fullest. It changes our hearts, mindsets, and circumstances. This kind of freedom is for you and me.
